Signs make for an easy photo-op, but I have a sense that today's social media landscape is more about sharing experiences than pictures. Folks don't want to just post a selfie with a sign anymore, they want to "try the viral Beavertail taco" near a sign.

I'd encourage any municipal officials looking to invest in social media tourism to consider what visitors are able to do/try/experience in front of the backdrop in addition to setting the visual stage.
